IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is hugely successful in the treatment of uneven skin tone, sun damage induced pigmentation and vascular changes to the skin, acne, rosacea, broken capillaries, resulting in an improved skin appearance with a more even skin tone. Also known as a Photofacial, IPL is an increasingly popular treatment that gives skin an improved, healthier appearance. It uses an intense pulsed light to penetrate your skin on the deepest levels to stimulate collagen and connective tissue production.

Depending on the type of skin concern and area of treatment, 4 - 6 sessions are usually required for best results. These treatments are generally 30 minutes in length and booked every 1 - 3 weeks apart.

How it works

IPL or Photo Rejuvenation uses pulse light therapy to treat skin concerns. It shines a bright, intense light on sections of the skin to encourage collagen production and/or target hyperpigmentation in the skin. This will then help improve the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles, acne scars, skin texture problems, large pores and diffuse redness, capillaries, brown spots and discolouration. IPL can also be used to remove hair - learn more about this treatment here.

IPL is minimally invasive so you can return to your normal activity after the treatment. It can cause mild discomfort during the treatment - likened to a rubber band snapping on the skin.

Aftercare

Before your IPL treatment

We recommend that you don't use artificial tanning products, perfume, makeup and scented products on the day of your appointment as they can irritate your skin.

After your IPL treatment

After your treatment for about 24 hours, your skin may feel hot and almost like a mild sunburn - this is very normal. Make sure to drink lots of water and avoid prolonged sun exposure for a couple of days. Avoid sun exposure for at least 72 hours following your treatment.
